As I write this Dan is asleep on the yoga mat, where he took corpse pose just a tad too far. We’ve been doing Yoga With Adriene’s latest 30 Day Challenge, if I haven’t mentioned that yet.
I’ve gone out to a couple of (newly started) happy hours with coworkers recently. It’s JD, Lucy, Carol, and me.
Lucy is engaged. Her fiance Mark works in our building so we all see him sometimes. He’s very good looking. This is important later.
JD I haven’t written about in a long time but he’s something of a work husband/person who keeps me sane at work/gay boyfriend who happens to be straight.
Can You Wear a Sign Around Your Neck or Something?
JD and Lucy and/or Carol have hung out outside of work without me. (Not like, that I wasn’t invited or something, it was mostly when I was pregnant or recovering from being pregnant.) I’ve obviously hung out with JD outside of work. But so everyone is lovely and we’re all friendly.
JD and I have smoked weed together. I taught him how to do it. Not very well apparently since I’m pretty sure he still has no idea what he’s doing. There’s about an 80% chance Lucy smokes weed. There’s about a 98% chance Mark smokes weed. There’s about a 12% chance Carol smokes weed.
I really like Lucy a lot and would like to hang out with her outside of work. But not in the way JD and Carol have – running 5Ks together and whatnot – although yes I like to run 5Ks too – but what I’m trying to say is that I think there’s a good chance Lucy and Mark smoke weed and would be great friend candidates for me and Dan.
The four of us hung out at the Christmas party and seemed to hit it off. And Lucy mentioned more than once to me how nice it was to finally meet Dan and how Mark really liked the two of us. So there are good signs there, just nothing definite that they smoke pot.
Swinging and Thruples and Open Relationships, Oh My!
If Dan and I were not monogamous they would totally be an ideal couple to swing with. (Dan does find Lucy attractive.) We’ve talked about this extensively – the whole swinging thing, not Lucy being pretty – and are happily monogamous. So I write about this in a very tongue-in-cheek kind of way.
But, the whole…alternative lifestyle thing fascinates me, to the point where I made it one of the focuses of my first novel I wrote. (Yes I wrote a novel. It is not published.)
I’m calling it right now – I think polygamous people are going to start coming out of the closet so to speak and demanding the same rights and respect and attention afforded gay and trans folks. I think this has already happened to some degree, but not yet to the point where marriage licenses and certificates need to add a third person option, like birth certificates in some states now have a third gender neutral option.
Anyway. Lucy and Mark, if you’re telepathically listening right now, you don’t have to sleep with Dan and me but if you could come over some time and smoke weed in our basement while our children sleep upstairs that would be so great.
